 Join Streets for All on Thursday, March 12th at 630pm in Culver City to get an update on our progress collecting signatures, receive outreach training, and collect our toolkit that we've assembled to keep our effort organized and efficient. We will also discuss our plan for a big push to gather signatures and support at April's CicLAvia on Venice Boulevard.
Los Angeles has taken over Venice Blvd between Lincoln and Cadillac from the State and is now in the process of considering street upgrades and repaving to bring the street up to a good state of repair. Venice Blvd is slated for both a dedicated all day bus lane and a protected bike lane according to the 2035 Mobility Plan. It connects a wide number of diverse communities, was once a red-car route, and is on the city’s High Injury Network. We need to jump on this opportunity to make sure LA follows its own plan and proper bus, bicycle, and pedestrian facilities are installed.
We believe that our air doesn’t have to be smoggy. We believe that we don’t need to have one of the highest rates of childhood asthma in the United States. We believe that we don’t have to have some of the worst traffic in the country. We believe that people live happier and healthier lives when they aren’t stuck in traffic. We believe that people should be able to move around the city safely, regardless of their income, zip code, or means of transportation.
We believe the time has come for L.A. to do better.
